International Beer Day is celebrated on the first Friday of August and this year, it's landed on August 2. Mumbai’s love for beer is definitely unprecedented with a number of brands available in the city, but you end up spending a lot in order to get a few drinks. So this International Beer Day, don't overpay for your beer and as August 2 is also a Friday, TGIF and go get a cold one post work at these places without burning a hole in your pocket.
Yacht, Bandra
This popular bar, known for
sasta daaru (cheap alcohol) will let you sit back, without a dress code or “stag entry” issues to tackle, and sip on some chilled beer at a reasonable price. Getting a pint here for less than ₹200 is a reality, and this local Bandra bar is frequented by the young, and elderly alike.

Gokul, Colaba
The “legendary” SoBo bar has been around for decades and is a hotspot for people to get their drinks cheap. Sipping on beer at Gokul has its own feel and one can get a pint of beer for around ₹100 - ₹120 depending upon the brand you choose. Gokul has a large seating capacity with multiple sections and is located in the buzz-filled Colaba area.

Pop Tate’s/Jughead’s
The ‘Unrestaurant’ has been around in Mumbai for a very long time and has spread across the city, popularising the ‘happy hours’ concept. A 1+1 or 2+1 on drinks is a popular concept and especially with beer, where draught beer is available in a pitcher or for a larger group, in a tower. A western touch in India, Poptate’s and Jughead’s is frequented by the youth and people who want to chug some classic, cold beer at an economical rate, compared to the inflated bar rates which are doing the rounds in Mumbai.

A small restaurant-bar tucked in Juhu, Seven Hills holds a similar theme to the likes of Yacht and Gokul. A dimly-lit joint, popular for quick bites and cheap alcohol, this place attracts crowd from the suburbs of Mumbai for another reason - You can play your own music! Yes, you heard that right. You can connect your phone to the speakers they have on level 1 and play your jam. Grabbing some beer with your buds while listening to your favourite music will be the perfect way to kick start the weekend.

Cafe Universal, Fort
With a vintage vibe around the place, this cosy irani cafe/bar offers a cheap and elaborate menu of beer, sandwiches, sizzlers, steaks and tandoori offerings.
