Football Leaders Academy beat Bodyline FC 5-4 via penalties to win the MDFA women’s league title. After 2 goals it was left to the penalty shoot-out to decide the champions.
Karen Pais of Bodyline FC took the first shot and it was saved brilliantly by Football Leaders goalie Shreya Yadav. This made all the difference as the Football Leaders did not give away anything and converted all their chances to emerge winners.
Football Leaders Academy is a Vasai-based group training boys and girls in the U 8 to U 14 age groups, while Bodyline was started around 2000, by Marcellus John Aleckal, the football coach at St Anne’s High School in Fort, Mumbai.
