Ahead of the Maha Derby, Mumbai City FC (MCFC) coach Jorge Costa revealed his intentions to see the team make it to the finals. Costa was in conversation with the media at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex before the encounter with FC Pune City.
However, he also stated that he has been really proud of his players and his staff who have made it this far in the league.
We don't know if we'll finish 3rd or 4th, but we'll play the semifinals and I'm very proud of my work, my staff and I'm very proud and happy with the work my players have put in," Costa said.
This would be the Islanders’ final league match prior to the knockouts of the Indian Super League 2018/19. If they manage to win the encounter, they’ll finish third on the points table whereas if they are bested by the Stallions, they’ll end up fourth on the standings.
"I want to thank everyone - the owners, all the medical staff, our press office, our drivers, our kit manager Clinton, our director of football Watson… I could go on. Each and every person in the club has worked hard relentlessly," he stated.
While the coach is not going to rest any player, the Islanders have an injury, two suspensions and a few players on yellow cards. Therefore everyone other than these will be playing for Mumbai City FC in the Maha Derby.
