This year, a 29-year-old woman became the first victim of H1N1 in Thane after testing positive for the virus on August 30, 2018. Meanwhile, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) health department officials have asked people who are down with swine flu to stay away from crowded places fearing it could aid the virus. In 2017, 16 people died owing to H1N1 in Thane.

RT Kendra, TMC Health Officer confirmed that the woman has been admitted to Jupiter Hospital and the staff has isolated her. He added that they carried out tests of her family members and relatives as a precautionary measure. In Kalwa hospital too, the civic body has set up an isolation ward for H1N1 patients.
