The number of beneficiaries receiving medical services through Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray (HBT) clinics has exceeded 7.5 million, according to a report by Loksatta. As medical facilities continue to expand, the response to these clinics is also growing. Increasingly, Mumbaikars are utilising these services, as the clinics operate at convenient times and are located near their homes. Currently, 243 HBT clinics are operational, with plans to open 37 more in the near future.

On the death anniversary of Balasaheb Thackeray on November 17, 2022, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the HBT clinics. Since then, the number of these clinics has steadily grown. Millions of Mumbaikars now benefit from the quality medical services provided by these clinics.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs), Dr. Vipin Sharma, has emphasised the importance of providing quality services and ensuring a regular supply of medicines, with medical services offered in two sessions. Planning is underway to ensure this. Executive Health Officer Dr. Daksha Shah shared that, since the clinics' inauguration, the number of citizens benefiting from these services has risen to over 7.5 million.

Currently, there are 243 clinics in total, with 37 more to be added soon. Of the existing clinics, 85 operate in portacabins, 17 in furnished buildings, 108 are regular dispensaries, and 33 are polyclinics. Dr. Daksha Shah also mentioned that, in slum-dominated areas, there will be one clinic for every 25,000 residents and one polyclinic for every 250,000 residents, in line with efforts to improve health facilities.

These clinics offer services such as X-rays, sonography, ECGs, CT scans, MRIs, and mammography at municipal rates through private diagnostic centres. Additionally, free consultations and treatments are provided by specialists, including dentists, gynaecologists, paediatricians, dermatologists, ophthalmologists, physiotherapists, and others.
