Rajiv Nivatkar, the Mumbai City District Collector has directed that all the concerned agencies be more active and effective in order to implement the Aarogya Setu app in Mumbai city district. Speaking at a review meeting in this regard, Nivatkar also stated that the goal is to achieve the target of card distribution under Pradhan Mantri Janaarogya Yojana.

Nivatkar further added that all government, municipal as well as private hospital patients in Mumbai city district along with their relatives should be given detailed information regarding Aarogya Setu application. He stated that this must be done in order for the people to download the application in their mobile phones. Furthermore, according to Nivatkar, more and more public awareness should be created in this regard. He also asked the district coordinator to present a concrete program for the completion of Pradhan Mantri Janaarogya Yojana.

The meeting was attended by the superintendent of JJ Hospital, Dr Mankeshwar, District Women and Child Development Officer Pravin Bhavsar, Dr Pratibha Jadhav, Dr Priyanshi Yadav on behalf of Indian Medical Association. S. S. North, Dr Pankaj Bandarkar, Dr Anil Pachnekar, Dr. of Mahatma Jotiba Phule Janaarogya Yojana. Vaibhav Mane, Kavita Patil of NIC participated.

This application had earlier made headlines for all the wrong reasons. From a French hacker claiming data theft to a Supreme Court judge calling it illegal, there have been multiple conversations going around the authenticity of the app.

HOW DOES THE APP WORK?

This application has been designed to prevent coronavirus infection. The Health Bridge app tells people if they have been in contact with a person infected with COVID-19. The Aarogya Setu app introduced by the Center is available in 11 languages which include Hindi, English and Marathi. This app further mentions several ways to prevent people from contracting the coronavirus. In addition, the application tells you whether there is a risk of coronavirus infection based on your travel history and where you originally lived.
