Four portable x-ray machines have been made available to Thane Municipal Corporation at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital from the CSR fund of Indian Government of Mint in Mumbai. Two of the machines will be used at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital and the remaining two machines will be used for municipal health centres and outpatient check-up camps.
A demand was registered in February 2024 by the Public Health Department of Thane Municipal Corporation to provide CSR funds. Accordingly, the Government of India Mint, Mumbai, under the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited, has made available a fund of INR 1 Crore 21 Lakhs. From this fund, they provided four portable X-ray machines to the Municipal Corporation. These machines have recently arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital. Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao thanked the Government of India Mint for the availability of these funds and expressed his feelings that these machines will benefit patient care.

X-rays were not immediately available in the outpatient check-up camp organised by the Municipal Corporation. Therefore, the patient had to go to a municipal health centre or a private lab attached to the municipality for free X-ray. In such a situation, about 50 percent of patients avoid X-rays despite the need. With these portable x-ray machines, the x-ray of the patient will be instantly available on the laptop and the report can be sent to the patient's mobile without printing the report. So it will be easy to diagnose the patients immediately.
These portable x-ray machines have become available due to CSR funds provided by Government of India Mint, Mumbai. Health camps will also benefit from it. Therefore, such health camps will be organised in the coming years. Deputy Commissioner (Health) Umesh Birari has appealed that citizens should take maximum advantage of it.
