The number of Zika patients in the city is increasing day by day and the number of patients has reached 52. So far, four patients infected with Zika have died. A committee of the Public Health Department will look into the deaths. It will reveal the exact cause of his death.


The highest number of Zika patients in the city, 11, have been found in the area of Erandwane Regional Office. Below that, 10 patients have been found in the area of Dahanukar Colony Regional Office, Kharadi 6, Pashan 5, Mundhwa, Sukhsagar Nagar 4 each, Ambegaon Budruk, Ghole Road 3 each, Kalas 2, Dhankawadi, Lohgaon, Dhole-Patil Road, Wanwadi 1 each. Three new patients were reported in the city on Thursday namely Gujarat Colony in Kothrud, Shivaji Chowk in Kharadi, Mangalwadi on Senapati Bapat Road.

A 68-year-old patient from Gujarat Colony in Kothrud has died. His Zika test report has come back positive. He died due to organ failure. A 78-year-old patient from Athashri Society in Baner has died. It is prima facie revealed that he died of heart disease. Two patients, a 76-year-old patient from Erandwane and a 72-year-old patient from Kharadi, passed away. Since these patients have co-morbidities, they are treated in private hospitals. After their death, their Zika test report came back positive, said Dr. Suryakant Deokar, Assistant Health Officer of the Municipal Corporation.
