The king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the great hero of all India. Realizing the threats from foreign powers, he invaded Surat. If Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had lived for another 20 years, the history of India would have been completely different, Governor Ramesh Bais asserted.


He was speaking on the occasion of the release of a special postage stamp by the Governor at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on the occasion of the 350th coronation year of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.


Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Tourism Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha, Education and Marathi Language Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Cultural Affairs Department Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Mumbai Post Master General Swati Pandey and senior administrative Officers were present.

Shivaji Maharaj raised his armor and built impregnable forts. The Governor congratulated the Chief Minister for preparing the plan to conserve these forts. The Governor said that while commemorating the life work of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, it would also be appropriate to remember the work of Kanhoji Angre and Bajirao Peshwa.

In the year 1960, during the formation of the state, the government had issued gold and silver currency, similarly, the governor said that on the occasion of the 350th accession year of Shivaji Maharaj, consideration should be given to issue the currency.


Decision to give INR 50 crores for Shiv Shrishti

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the government has decided to give priority to the conservation of Pratapgad and other forts in order to bring the work of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the future generations. A cultural programme 'Shiv Vandana' depicting the life and work of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his Coronation Ceremony was presented on the occasion.
