The counting of votes for the much-awaited and much-hyped Mumbai University Registered Graduate Group AGM elections has begun at the Sir Cowasji Jehangir Convocation Hall in the University's Fort Complex. The special thing is that this year for the first time the counting of votes is being done under the supervision of the 'CCTV' system. Police have also been deployed at the polling station.
28 candidates are contesting for a total of 10 seats in the general assembly elections of the registered graduate group. The Yuva Sena (Thackeray group) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad-sponsored Vidyapeeth Vikas Manch have contested ten of the ten seats. Therefore, everyone is paying attention to who will win more seats among them.
Also, Thackeray group's Yuva Sena won eight out of 10 seats in 2010 and 10 out of 10 seats in 2018 and established its undisputed supremacy. So this year too, Yuva Sena was active from the beginning in voter registration, campaigning and the entire election process. On the other hand, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad sponsored Vidyapeeth Vikas Manch has challenged the Yuva Sena by contesting 10 out of 10 seats. He has also prepared successfully to win the election. Therefore, whether the Yuva Sena will retain ten out of ten seats or whether the ABVP or independent representatives will also enter the Adhisabha, the attention of the student union, university and political circles has also been drawn.
After many difficulties, the general assembly election of the registered graduate group was held. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Yuva Sena Secretary Varun Sardesai are confident that our work and Aditya Thackeray's reassuring face will give us the desired success.
