A studio in Mumbai was vandalised by the Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction due to statements made about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde.
Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has issued a detailed statement on Twitter, responding to the controversy. No political party controls our humor. He said that political leaders are threatening to teach him a lesson, but mocking leaders is not against the law. He also said in this statement that he will not apologise for this matter.
He has written a four-page post titled My Statement. On the first page, Kunal Kamra says, “The place where my show was organized is a place for such a show. Habitat, that studio, is not responsible for whatever happened. The place was vandalized. Abusive words were also used there. “I heard that tomatoes were brought in by the truckload because you didn't like the butter chicken we grew for you," Kunal Kamra said on the front page in his bluntest way.
To the political leaders who are threatening to teach me a lesson: Freedom of expression is everyone's right. It's not just for the rich. People like you can't stand jokes. My right to freedom of expression is not affected by a powerful political figure. I have not done anything against the law. I have pointed out the political circus and politics in a satirical manner.

Anyway.. I have decided to fully cooperate with the police. The police and the court should take legal action against me. But the law is the same for everyone, so action should also be taken against those who broke into that hotel. They have demolished a hotel after hearing a joke. Also, action should be taken against the municipal members who are not elected. How did they come with hammers to demolish Habitat without giving any notice? Kunal Kamra has asked these questions.
