A Muslim woman with a hijab was denied a free meal outside Tata Hospital in Mumbai. The incident occurred near the hospital on Jerbai Wadia Road, Parel, where a local NGO was providing free meals to patients and their families.
According to a video that is going viral on the internet, the food distributor noticed the woman in line and asked her to chant “Jai Shri Ram” before he would serve her. The video was posted by an independent journalist Waquar Hasan and since then it has been going viral on the internet.
In Mumbai, a Muslim woman, who was in the queue for food, was asked to say 'Jai Shri Ram' by the food distributor if she wanted food. When she didn't say it, she was asked to go away from the queue. The food was being distributed by some NGOs near TATA hospital. pic.twitter.com/XE4CejQXP4

When she denied, he asked her to leave the queue, saying those unwilling to say "Ram" should not stand in line. In the video, he is heard threatening to kick her. In responses, the woman said that she was not on his father’s land.
The food distributor clearly said "you will get food only if you say 'Jai Shri Ram'. Don't do nonsense here". pic.twitter.com/DBhN5qLw9z

The video has sparked controversy on social media, with users criticising the distributor’s behavior. One user remarked, “If they refuse meals because a person isn’t shouting a slogan, they are not an NGO. Disgusting.”
When hunger is met with conditions, it’s not service—it’s politics. Shouldn’t service be above religion? Every person deserves respect and food without any slogans attached. 🍲

Another suggested that political groups like the BJP and RSS might be backing the NGO, arguing that such incidents reflect a broader trend of growing intolerance. Some questioned if it aligns with the values of Hinduism or what "Ram" stands for.
As per reports, local police have been informed about the incident. But no legal action has been made since there is no official complaint.
