Handling passengers complaints, especially from the ones who travel by the trains in Mumbai, have become a nuisance for the railway police, as they are often attacked or bothered by groups or individuals involved in crimes. Officials have been receiving complaints from several railway stations located in and around the suburbs, and as per reports, these commuter issues have raised concerns for the department.
Keeping this in mind, the team has taken a decision by the railway police manage these complaints and the accused in a certain manner, and a proposal has been sent to the state government in this regard.
Reports state that the railway police are trying to seek help from the state government. Complaints have been received from many routes on several stations which connect Central and Western Railway lines. Reports have been filed on trains connecting CSMT, Byculla, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra, Dombivali, and Kalyan stations on the Central Railway line; and from stations like Churchgate, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Khar, Andheri and Borivali stations on the Western Railway lines.
Police have recorded complaints related to mob attacks under flyovers, pedestrian bridges, during the night, as the group enters into the locomotive, and bothers the passengers. As a result, cases have been registered against them, and the police has decided to rehabilitate the rioters on the Mumbai Suburban Railway lines. Furthermore, the Railway Police has started taking special efforts in this regard.
It is understood that only a proposal has been prepared for this and the approval is pending. Moreover, the department has demanded funds from the government for the same to be implemented.
Social organizations and associations have also expressed interested to offer assistance and take steps to help rehabilitate the offenders. The department believes that with the help of these organizations, efforts will be made to keep the groups away from drug abuse and attacks. At that time, the teams will have to take care that no crime is being committed by them.
So far, a list with names of 500 rioters has been compiled, and discussions have also started with two or three organizations focused towards rehabilitating the offenders. It is coming to light that plans are being made to implement the same at the earliest.
