First of its kind and made in India train Antyodaya ‘Medha express’ was flagged off by railway minister Suresh Prabhu at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) which left for Churchgate around 4 pm on Saturday.

Two local rakes of Medha express have been built at Chennai’s ICF workshop. Though it looks like the bombardier local which entered Mumbai two years ago, Medha express is purely made in India. Electrical system has been taken care of by Hyderabad’s Medha Servodrive company. The cost of bombardier local is Rs. 44,360,000 whereas the cost of Medha local is Rs. 42, 230,000.
