The Centre has finally changed the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Chhatrapati Shivaji ‘Maharaj’ International Airport. On Thursday, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu announced the same on Twitter.

While the railway station's name was immediately changed, the request to change the airport's name had been pending. Raje wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and raised the issue repeatedly in Parliament. Earlier this month, Shiv Sena workers had protested outside the airport to change its name.
