The metro train services in other parts of the country including Delhi had restarted in September after the centre gave it green light. However, no decision was taken for the Mumbai Metro.
Before the metro train service commences for Mumbaikars, the sanitation and other required protocols will be followed by the metro administration and trial run will also be conducted.
Meanwhile, the monorail has also been allowed to operate for general passengers on the Chembur-Wadala-Jacob Circle route. Although the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government on Wednesday doesn’t mention monorail, the services will commence from October 18 following the COVID-19 protocol.
Those who don’t wear masks will not be allowed to travel in the monorail. The monorail administration will strictly follow the ‘no mask, no travel’ initiative started by the government. Passengers will have to cooperate in following the social distancing norms and adhering to other rules to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
