The dam supplying water to the city of Mumbai, the capital of the state, has reached half of its capacity and will have to meet the challenge of water supply till July, on the other hand, the Morbe dam in Navi Mumbai, which has its own dam, has more water than in the last two years. But still citizens have appealed to use water carefully. In Morbe Dam, there is enough water left in the dam to supply the city with a smooth water supply for another 188 days.

Almost half of the water reservoirs that supply water to the city of Mumbai are left and the temperature has been high in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai for the past few days. Compared to that, Morbe Dam has more than 60 percent water storage. Therefore, there is enough water in Morbe Dam to supply Navi Mumbai till the end of August.

Morbe Dam of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation was filled to 100 percent on August 28, 2024 this year and water was released from the dam. Jalpujan was also performed by the municipal commissioner and dignitaries this year.

Navi Mumbai is the first municipal corporation in the country after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to have its own dam after independence. But due to the population, more water is being drawn from the dam. More than 450 million liters of water is pumped out of the dam every day and it needs to be controlled. While the municipal administration is appealing to the citizens of the city to use water sparingly, the municipal administration also needs to provide only 200 liters of water.
