BMC to initiate music classes in 24 civic-run schools

In its budget, the civic body stated that it plans to start music academies in 24 schools for which the procurement of musical instruments has been completed.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday, February 3, announced the budget of the education department at the beginning of the budget session which allocated INR 2,945 crores for education.

Moreover, the civic body is touted to start music academies in 24 schools. The procurement process of musical instruments, furniture and other items required for this work has been completed. In addition, provision has been announced for tinkering labs to be started on an experimental basis in the secondary schools for Mumbai Municipal Corporation for students of class V to VIII.

On the other hand, the BMC launched 40 YouTube channels for online tutoring during the lockdown. These courses are taught in English, Hindi, Marathi and Urdu which has been viewed more than one lakh times. Meanwhile, in substantial development, Mumbai Municipal Corporation schools will be renamed as 'Mumbai Public Schools'. Moreover, a new logo will also be made for it.

All about the music centre:

According to sources, in order to provide guidance to the students, a fellowship teacher will be appointed in the music academy of 24 central schools by paying honorarium. Through this, students will be given formal training in classical Indian music.

Moreover, a soundproof hall will be constructed at the NM Joshi Marg Municipal School, Lower Parel in Mumbai. This will be done under the guidance of music expert Mayuresh Pai. It will have acoustic flooring, smart TV, projector, chrome cast, WiFi etc.
