Locals in Kalina have raised concerns over 458 dustbins that were expected to be distributed in the H-East ward by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). These bins were purchased in February for INR 10.97 lakhs. However, according to residents, they were never delivered.
The BMC had ordered wheeled dustbins with a capacity of 240 litres each. These bins were meant to be delivered to Kalina village, located in Beat-90 of the H-East ward. Voice of Kalina (VOK), a local organisation focused on exposing corruption, claims that the dustbins have not reached the intended locations.
The work order from February 14 shows that the BMC purchased the dustbins from a vendor in Bhayandar (E) named Deora And Brothers. The order specified that the bins should be delivered within 30 days. The funds for this had already been approved.

When the bins did not appear, residents began asking authorities about them. As per reports, they sent a letter to the ward officer, seeking information on the distribution of the dustbins. Reports also suggest that the ward officer has been unhelpful and has asked the residents to locate the missing bins on their own.
