As per a newly approved plan, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will restore two historic cannons from British times that lay inside Ghatkopar’s Lions Park.

These two iron cannons are around 164 years old but are still believed to be in a good condition. Measuring, 3.10 meters in length, the two cannons have the inscription ‘NCPC’ on one side.

Similarly, the civic body recently came up with a proposal to restore heritage milestones across the city.

As per the BMC, the cannons were installed by the East India Company and was reportedly manufactured in 1856. Ironically, these cannons were installed at the time to protect the city from intruders.
