Nine people were injured in a stampede while catching Antyodaya Express at Bandra station on Sunday, October 27. On the occasion of Diwali, long distance trains are now full and the unreserved long distance trains run with huge rush. As a result, Central Railway has taken an important decision to avoid this possible situation due to overcrowding. Central Railway informed the passengers in this regard by posting on its official X account.
A stampede took place at Bandra railway station at five o'clock on Sunday, October 27. An additional special train released by the railways was delayed. So that train was cancelled. After that Antyodaya Express running from Bandra to Gorakhpur was going to leave. As this is an unreserved train, it does not require booking or reservation. Due to this, Antyodaya Express was crowded with passengers. As a result, the crowd at Bandra station increased. Passengers tried to board the train before it reached the platform. Many people fell on the platform in this struggle. This caused a stampede.

Considering the stampede-like situation, the Central Railway took a big decision about the platform tickets. Accordingly, platform tickets will no longer be available at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Pune and Nagpur railway stations. The CR has decided not to sell platform tickets at the above stations till November 8. Only senior citizens and medically ill passengers are exempted from this.
What is a Platform Ticket?
Instead of going anywhere, just waiting for someone on the platform or wanting to drop someone off, you have to buy a platform ticket. The platform ticket is INR 10. On this ticket you can stay at the platform for 2 hours. If you fail to but the ticket, you may have to pay a fine of INR 250 if caught.
