The Central Railway (CR) is taking steps to tackle ticketless and irregular travel on Mumbai local trains. During peak hours, railway officials have been diligently checking tickets on both non-AC local trains and AC local trains.
Between July 16 and 17, they identified over a thousand instances of passengers travelling without valid tickets. On July 17, CR collected a fine of INR 1,38,050 after detecting 420 instances of invalid tickets in first-class coaches of non-air-conditioned local trains and air-conditioned local trains.

Similarly, on July 16, 631 instances of invalid tickets were found, resulting in a fine of INR 2,01,595. In total, fines totaling around INR 3.5 lakh have been collected from offenders. These routine inspections will make sure that rules are followed and revenue is not lost for the railway administration.
As per reports, CR will continue these checks to maintain order in local rail travel. Commuters are strongly advised to carry valid tickets or passes to avoid fines under railway regulations.
