Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and claimed four lives in different incidents so far. On Sunday evening, two people were killed when a tree fell on them near Metro Cinema in South Mumbai.

On the same day, three young Navi Mumbai residents, Fajjan Siddiqui (18), Rehan Siddiqui (18), Abidi Siddiqui (35) drowned in a pond near Taoja jail. The three men were relatives and had gone to the hillock to spend the Sunday. Out of two, one body was recovered and search operations are underway for the others.

In another incident on Monday, around 2:15 am, a wall collapsed at Wadol village in Ambernath, killing a 13-year old boy and injuring his parents.

Along with this, around 4:30 am, a compound wall caved in and affected Lloyd’s Estate, which is located opposite Vidyalankar College.


The Santacruz weather station recorded 231.4 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. So much rainfall is categorised as extremely heavy showers. This is the first extremely heavy rainfall recorded in Mumbai in the current season," Ajay Kumar, IMD Mumbai Director.
