In the early hours of Sunday, a speeding mini-bus hit a container truck on Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district which led to the death of around 12 people and 23 were reported injured, as per the reports by PTI.
Around 35 of the passengers were travelling in a private bus, which was returning to Nashik after visiting the Sailani Baba dargah in Buldhana district. The accident took place in the Vaijapur area of the expressway.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and PM Narendtra Modi expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia of INR 5 lakh to the relatives of the deceased.

According to the police, the bus driver lost control over the wheels and the bus hit the stationary container truck from the rear side near Jambargaon toll plaza. It is believed that the mini-bus was overloaded, which had the capacity to carry 17 people, but nearly 35 passengers were travelling on it, inspector Shyamsundar Kavthale from Vaijapur police station said.
