Every year, the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar is celebrated in with enthusiasm and respect, across the state of Maharashtra. This year marks the 130th birth anniversary of the eminent leader and sharing a message about the celebrations, Maharashtra State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the same can be conducted as per tradition, however, people have to keep the COVID-19 guidelines in mind, and ensure they avoid crowding.
He said that the celebrations are important but one should support the government in containing the spread of coronavirus. Keeping the same in mind, he has appealed to the citizens and expressed confidence that the people would observe discipline on this day in honor of Ambedkar's thoughts.
The Central Government has declared the same as a National Holiday, in memory of the leader and the man behind the Indian Constitution. CM addressed the people at a meeting organized in connection with the planning of B R Ambedkar's 130th birth anniversary program, whereby officials stated that the events will be organized on April 14, but with due consideration of the crisis. Following the rules of preventing COVID-19 will be the priority and the teams will ensure no crowding by the followers across the state.
Meahile, CM said that due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the government has also stopped the work of Babasaheb Ambedkar's memorial at Indu mills. Adding more, he said that the state respects his followers emotions, but at this point, one is expected to show support, and hence it is important to celebrate the anniversary by conducting social activities in a peaceful manner.
CM suggested that blood donation camps can be organized, for which the health department and all government agencies will take adequate precautions during the planning stages. Moreover, officials will give instructions to telecast the events live from the memorial site at the Chaityabhoomi.
