This was the coldest night in eight years since September 2018, as per the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Santacruz observatory. The temperature was 2.2 degrees lower than the usual average.
In a report by Indian Express, weather experts said that clear skies were the reason for cooler temperatures at night. They also noted that it is common for nighttime temperatures to dip slightly below average during this time of year. Last year, the lowest night temperature in September was recorded at 24 degrees on September 26.
Mumbai is expected to experience a mix of rain and clouds this week. Temperatures are forecasted to range between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius on September 20, with possible rain or thunderstorms in the evening or night. The weather on September 21 will remain mostly cloudy, with light rain and temperatures between 25 and 32 degrees.
On September 22, light rain is expected with temperatures between 25 and 31 degrees. The forecast for September 23 and 24 suggests steady rain and cooler temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius. This could lead to a wetter and colder end to the week for Mumbai.
On Thursday, September 19, the air quality index (AQI) is poor, clocking at 105.0. The sunrise occurred at 06:27 am, and the sunset will occur at 06:37 pm.
On Wednesday, September 18, the night temperature rose to 24.4 degrees Celsius, which is 0.4 degrees lower than the average. At the Colaba observatory, a minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees and a maximum of 32.5 degrees Celsius were recorded. The relative humidity at Colaba was noted to be 61%.
