The slum dwellers will soon be able to know the current status of the rent received from the developers, when the rent will be collected or the details of whether it has been collected, etc. The Slum Rehabilitation Authority has implemented a separate app called 'Rent Management System' in this regard. The slum dweller can register on this app by giving details like mobile number, email. By that they can see the complete details of rent without bothering the authority.

Valsa Nair-Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing Department has given the green light to this app. This app has been created from the concept of Mahendra Kalyankar, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority. Kalyankar had started immediate action in this regard as soon as he accepted the formula. This app will be launched soon. Due to this, slum dwellers will be able to know the exact status of rent.

The issue of the rent of the slum dwellers is sensitive and the High Court had also taken a good dig at the authority due to arrears of rent. After that the authority issued circular no. 210. According to this circular, the developer is required to deposit two years' advance rent to the slum dwellers and then the following year's check to the authority before implementing the slum rehabilitation scheme. No start letter is issued to the developer to resume any stalled scheme without implementing this circular. This rent is paid by the authority to the slum dwellers. Complaints of arrears of rent have reduced to a great extent due to this circular. Now going a step further, the authority has made it possible to register any fare complaints on the app. Apart from this now every slum dweller will be able to know the current status of his rent.

Thousands of crores of rupees deposited as rent
The Slum Rehabilitation Authority has so far collected INR 1000 crore as rent. The Authority has assigned the responsibility of Assistant Registrar Sandhya Bawankule to actually pay this rent to the slum dwellers. Apart from this, details such as in which scheme, which developer has not paid rent etc will be easily available on the app.
