As Independence Day approaches, the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign has already begun nation-wide between August 9-15.

The campaign encourages citizens to hoist the national flag in their homes and post selfies on the government-provided website.

Under this initiative, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also planned a number of activities to raise awareness of the campaign.

The song "Gharo Ghari Tiranga" will be played on 1070 garbage collection trucks, while 134 selfie booths and signature canvases will be placed in 106 different spots throughout Mumbai.

BMC has scheduled 47 tricolour yatras in Mumbai starting on August 9. On August 13, more tricolour yatras will take place throughout the city as part of the following phase. The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' state-level campaign formally started on August 9 at the August Kranti Maidan by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

On August 11, the civic body conducted Tiranga Yatra in all the administrative divisions of Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika under Ghoro Ghari Tiranga Abhiyan. People's representatives, artists, citizens, officials, employees etc. took spontaneous participation in this yatra.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, on August 10 BMC took to X and shared a glimpse of the various activities organised in various departments (wards) of the civic body under the Gharo Ghari Tiranga Abhiyan.

However, in response to this, Mumbaikars are expressing their concerns about other matters on this post. An X user wrote, “Clear footpath for Matunga road .....”. Another user wrote, “Do not use plastic flowers and balloons.” Moreover, some also commented about potholes and illegal hawkers issues as well.

In July, during the Mann ki Baat program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the drive to honour our country's heroes. In celebration of Independence Day, he urged all Indians to join the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. PM Modi emphasised the increasing popularity of posting selfies taken with the flag on social media. He asked party officials and members to make sure that, from August 13 to August 15, the national flag is flown from homes, workplaces, and shops.
