Railway activist Sameer Zaveri alleged that the Central Railway (CR) has been spending lakhs of rupees on the ambulance which is stationed outside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) railway station. He further added that, apart from the driver, the ambulances run by the railways have no doctors and emergency equipment and the ambulances have been running since 2006.

He also mentioned about the availability of 108 state ambulance adding that it is always parked outside the railway station and is ladened with medical facilities. Still, the CR pays double the salary to railway ambulance drivers who end up earning ₹39,200 and 108 ambulance drivers early only ₹14,000.

The railway administration has to pay ₹39,200 per month to the ambulance driver and the driver works only for nine hours, whereas 108 ambulance driver works for 12 hours. Zaveri added that if in case 108 ambulance is not available, then they can summon the ambulance service from St. George Hospital.
