Mumbai Police has issued a traffic advisory for late veteran industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata's final rites in city as significant gathering is expected at the crematorium in Jijamata Nagar of Worli.
Industrialist Ratan Tata's mortal remains will be kept for last public tribute at the National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) at Nariman Point. Owing to this, traffic restrictions have been imposed in South Bombay ahead of Ratan Tata's final journey from his Colaba residence to NCPA in the morning until Worli through the day.
Due to the possibility of traffic congestion on Annie Besant Road in Worli, orders have been issued to temporarily divert traffic on the said road.
The following changes in the transport system, will remain in effect till 9 pm.
Road closed:
Dr.E. Mones Marg is being closed to all vehicles (except funeral vehicles) up to Worli Naka Le Rakangi Junction.
Alternative route for vehicles arriving in Worli Naka area:
1) From Rakangi Junction – Use Mahalaxmi Railway Station Junction via Keshav Rao Khade Road, then proceed to Haji Ali Junction via Lala Lajpat Rai Road, and continue to Rajani Patel (Lotus Junction), Dr. Annie Besant Road, and finally to the desired location in the Worli Naka area.
2) Use the Senapati Bapat Road, take a left turn onto NM Joshi Road, followed by left turns onto Pandurang Budhkar Road and GM Bhosle Road to reach the Worli Naka area.
Alternative route for vehicles going to Mahalakshmi railway station area:
1) From Worli Naka – Use Dr. Annie Besant Marg, then Ghafar Khan Junction to Rajni Patel (Lotus Junction), Lala Lajastrai Haji Ali Junction and take a turn onto Keshavrao Khahe Margan Mahalakshmi Railway Station area for desired destination.
2) From Worli Naka - Use GM Bhosle Road, make a right onto Pandurang Budhkar Road, then right onto NM Joshi Road, and continue towards Deepak Cinema Junction, proceeding to Rakhangi Junction.
Traffic on the said route is being temporarily diverted to another route. Citizens should take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience, Mumbai Traffic Police noted in the statement.

Moreover, Marine Drive road will be closed to vehicular traffic, as per the police on duty at the Mantralaya signal. The police has also prepared a green corridor till Worli.
Besides, security arrangements have beefed up with vehicles of Rapid Action Force among other security forces being deployed in the Nariman Point area since Thursday morning, October 10.
The mortal remains from NCPA near Oberoi hotel will be taken to Worli around 5 pm.
Business Tycoon Ratan Tata passed away on late Wednesday night, October 9. He breathed his last at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital. Tata will forever be remembered as the giants who changed the face of industry as the Indian subcontinent grew after independence.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has declared a day of mourning and cancelled all entertainment programs. Additionally, he will be cremated in a state ceremony.
