After being informed by the intelligence agencies, several cities across India have been placed on high alert including Mumbai. Amid the tensions between India and Pakistan, Mumbai Police has increased CCTV surveillance and vigilance at public places including Airport, Railway Stations, and other major places. 

Many Police personnel have been deployed at railway junctions in Mumbai. The vehicles are also being checked on Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Ahmedabad highways. 

Maharashtra Police has issued the high alert in seven cities, especially in Mumbai and Pune. Along with the police, Army personnel have also been deployed at sensitive and public places in the city. The coastal lines are also being heavily monitored.

However, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had earlier appealed to the citizens that there is no need to panic. Issuing high alerts for several major cities are common whenever the situation at the border is tense. Maharashtra Police is providing special vigilance to places such as hotels, beaches, markets, and railway stations.
