Mumbai: Woman Falls to Death from Crowded Local Train Between Ambernath and Badlapur Stations

She got down at Ambernath railway station and boarded the train again but couldn't stand on the footboard leading to her fatal fall

A woman died after falling from a local train in Ambernath. The incident took place between Ambernath-Badlapur railway stations. Around 8:30 pm there was a huge crowd. There was no place to stand. She got down at Ambernath railway station, and got back on the local train but couldn't get inside. While standing at the door, she lost her balance and fell down. The woman was admitted to the hospital, but she died during treatment.


The incident took place on Tuesday night between Ambernath and Badlapur railway stations. Police have given preliminary information that the woman's name is Rituja Ganesh Jangam and she lives in Karjat. Rituja was working in a private travel company in Thane. While returning from Thane by train to Karjat, she got down at Ambernath railway station due to overcrowding and boarded the train again, but this time she could not enter due to the crowd and stood at the door.

As soon as the train left Ambernath station, she fell down due to the rush of people. As soon as the information about this accident came, the railway police rushed to the spot and brought her to the Government Central Hospital of Ulhasnagar. But the doctor checked her and declared her dead. The railway police is conducting further investigation in this matter. The police have appealed to people to be careful while traveling through the local area during rush hours.
