Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga has set an example for sheer dedication and unbelievable talent as he scalped seven wickets while playing a domestic 50-over match in Sri Lanka's Kandy
On April 3, Mumbai Indians won the match against Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs and became the first IPL team to register 100 wins. However, in what can be called an example of utmost dedication and showcase of talent, Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga flew to his country, as soon as the IPL match ended, to play for his local team in a domestic 50-over match in Sri Lanka's Kandy.
Just 12 hours after playing for Mumbai Indians against CSK at Wankhede in IPL 2019, the Sri Lanka ODI captain played in a domestic 50-over match. The 35-year-old managed to scalp 10 wickets within 12 hours, which displays his talent as well as dedication towards cricket. Malinga registered bowling figures of 9.5-0-49-7 to help Galle defeat Kandy by 156 runs.
It was being said that he was allowed by the Sri Lankan Board to play IPL prior to playing the World Cup 2019. But he was again called back as the tournament was set to start on April 4 (Thursday).
The One-Day tournament will now end by April 11 and it remains to be seen if the cricketer joins his IPL team again to play the remainder of the tournament ahead of the World Cup.
