The body of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the case of sexual harassment in a private school in Badlapur, was brought to JJ Hospital for post-mortem on Tuesday morning. Akshay died due to hemorrhaging due to a gunshot wound to the head, according to the preliminary post-mortem report.
Akshay's body was brought to JJ Hospital for autopsy in the morning. After completing the legal paperwork, doctors from the Forensic Science Department took X-rays of the body.
The autopsy of Akshay's body was filmed in the presence of four to five senior doctors from the Department of Forensic Medicine. The viscera samples will be sent to the forensic laboratory in Kalina for medical examination.
What Happened?
Accused Janitor Akshay Shinde was arrested on August 17 for allegedly sexually molesting two girls, aged four and five, in a washroom in a private school of Badlapur. After massive protests at Badlapur station, a fast-track court trial was ordered on August 20.
After allegations of delay in FIR registration and police negligence, subsequently, an SIT was formed to investigate the case. On Monday, September 23, 2024, Shinde snatched a police officer’s gun and opened fire injuring one police officer. In the retaliatory firing, the accused died of critical injuries, according to the police.
