In a horrifying incident, a five-month-old baby girl lost her life at the hands of her own father in the early hours of Sunday, June 9. The accused has been identified as Khushiram Thakur, who is a 21-year-old daily wage worker.
Khushiram and his wife, Amruta Thakur, had a love marriage a year ago and had their first child, Roohi, five months ago. The family lived in a room in Uran.
The incident took place after the man returned home intoxicated and started an argument with his wife. The argument went to the point where Amruta started fearing for her and her daughter's safety. She then decided to leave their home and go to her mother's house nearby.
But Khushiram managed to reach at her mother's house. He demanded to see Roohi. Amruta refused to this, which angered him more.
Khushiram then took Roohi from Amruta's arms and threw the infant to the ground. Despite Amruta's father's attempt to stop the fight, the situation worsened. Khushiram even threatened to kill both Amruta and Roohi.
After the incident, the family detained Khushiram until the police could arrive. Meanwhile, Amruta took Roohi to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, upon their arrival, the baby was declared dead.
Reports suggest that the couple would argue frequently. Khushiram also used to return home drunk and physically assault Amruta.
