A man pretending to be the great-grandson of a spiritual guru and having divine powers has cheated a 98-year-old doctor and his son by withdrawing INR 42.50 lakh from their accounts. The Bhoiwada police are investigating further after registering a case against a person named Sanjay Satam based on a complaint filed by an elderly doctor who was cheated.
A 98-year-old complainant doctor residing in Dadasaheb Phalke Road area of Dadar East is a devotee of a spiritual guru. The complainant doctor had met the accused during a medical camp some years ago. He said that he was Sanjay Satam and his grandfather was a spiritual guru. As the complainant doctor was his devotee, he immediately trusted Sanjay Satam. The doctor said that he is a doctor and does ozone therapy, chelation therapy. He has an eye disease. He also told Sanjay that his son is under mental stress. A few days later the accused Sanjay came to meet the complainant and his son for medical help. At this time he informed them that he has a PhD from Oxford University and is an international lawyer.
He has an office in the Supreme Court and many lawyers are working under him. He was previously ambassador to France. His name was finalised as the Governor of Goa. The Government of India informed him that he had been appointed as a member of the Commercial Advocacy to go to Portugal. Also, the Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, said that he is his maternal uncle and that he has good relations with high-ranking people.
Sanjay started coming to the complainant's house telling about his medical problems. He was doing ozone and chelation therapy without paying. After becoming well acquainted with the complainant doctor and his children, he started handling the bank affairs of the complainant doctor and his children. Meanwhile, he transferred a total amount of INR 29.50 lakh from the account of the complainant doctor through NEFT, RTGS, Google Pay.
INR 13 lakhs were transferred from the account of the complainant doctor's son. In the examination of the bank account by the complainant doctor, he noticed the difference in the amount in the account and it was Sanjay himself who noticed the change in the amount. When the complainant doctor questioned Sanjay, he admitted that he had taken the money due to difficulties and promised to return the money. However, as he did not return the money, the complainant doctor approached the Bhoiwada police station and lodged a complaint against Sanjay for financial fraud of a total of INR 42.50 lakh.
