Mumbai Police Arrests Accused After Twenty Years From Uttar Pradesh

Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (RAK) Marg Police has been successful in arresting an accused from Uttar Pradesh who was at large for more than 20 years. He was involved in burglary crimes and was wanted. A non-bailable warrant was issued against the accused as he had not appeared before the court since 2005. A police team was dispatched to Uttar Pradesh to arrest the accused. 


The arrested accused has been identified as Habibul Bholu Imam Baksh Shaikh alias Bhullu. When he used to live in Sewri in 2003, RAK Marg police arrested him in the case of burglary. A case was registered against him under Sections 457, 380, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. After getting bail in the case, from 2005 he started remaining absent for the hearing in Sewri court. Finally, the court took serious note of this and issued a non-bailable warrant against the accused and declared him absconding. Since then, the accused was evading police contact.

The Mumbai Police had recently launched a special campaign to arrest the absconding accused. Accordingly, a team of women police sub-inspector Pallavi Jadhav and other policemen was formed under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ragasudha R. The police team from RAK Marg Police Station started searching for the accused.


During the investigation, there was no concrete information available about the accused. It was also learned that the accused currently was not residing in Mumbai. Finally, the police got the breakthrough. The accused is said to be a resident of Baberu taluka of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. Accordingly, a police team was dispatched to Uttar Pradesh. Upon reaching, when they inquired about the accused, they came to know that the accused was in the Hardoli area. A team of RAK Marg police went to Hardoli with the help of local police and arrested Bhullu. After that he was brought to Mumbai and produced before the court.


In this case, the court has remanded the accused to judicial custody. The police team spent three days in Uttar Pradesh upon receiving information about the accused and made an arrest. The accused was living in Uttar Pradesh for the past 15 years. Sources informed that he was carrying out odd jobs for his living.
