The students of SSC (Class X) and HSC (Class XII) would get 10-20 bonus marks in their upcoming board examinations if they are participants in National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Scouts and Guides events. A recent Government Resolution (GR) issued by Maharashtra State Education department extended the bonus-mark scheme for the SSC and HSC students.

The marking scheme has been kept in order to promote them participating in national and international events organised by the two institutions. As per the scheme, students who will be a part of the Republic Day parade and related events will get 10 marks. Whereas medal winners in these events would be granted 15 marks. Students participating in international youth exchange programmes would be given 20 marks.

The move intends to increase the participation of students in NCC and Scouts and Guides,” states the GR.

However, the GR has revamped the marking scheme for students participating in sports events. Until now, the participants in district, division and state-level tournaments would be awarded up to 15 marks. But as per the new marking scheme, the medallists in these events will be awarded only up to 10 bonus marks.

On the other hand, students participating in national and international sporting events would continue to get up to 25 marks.
