Mumbai Weather Update: IMD issues yellow warning in "these" areas

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heatwave will be felt well in western Maharashtra in the next 24 hours.

On February 24, Mumbai's Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius, while Colaba observatory recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius. This indicates that temperatures are currently six to seven degrees above normal.

Meanwhile, on February 25, the minimum temperatures were recorded at 25.4 and 23.6 degrees Celsius.

However, on February 26, temperatures are expected to rise by 1-2 degrees, it added.

Moreover, the weather department also said temperatures may drop by 1-2 degrees on February 27 and 28 but it will not bring any significant relief from the high temperature.

It is pertinent to note that Mumbai recording 38.5 degrees Celsius earlier this month -- the highest for the season in five years.

The city is experiencing hot and sultry weather, with afternoon temperatures soaring past 36 degrees, making conditions increasingly uncomfortable.

Even though there has been no official communication on this, weather stations like Santacruz show heatwave parameters have been met. There is a heatwave-like condition in the Konkan belt, the sources added.
