A dense fog was seen at many places in Mumbai this morning. At present the air level in the city has reduced. There was smog in the air yesterday also. The Malad-based Central Pollution Control Board's observatory has reported that the air quality is in the "poor" category. The air quality index in Mumbai reached 137 at 10 am on Monday.
Poor air quality in Mumbai
Mumbai's air quality fell to unsatisfactory levels for the third time this month due to increased humidity and low wind speed. A layer of smog blanketed parts of Mumbai on Monday morning as the overall air quality in the city deteriorated. The AQI recorded here at 8 am was 131, which was categorised as 'moderate' according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

On October 27, the city recorded its worst air pollution level, with an AQI of 202, classified as 'poor'. The 'poor' AQI range ranges from 201-300, which, according to the CPCB, can cause breathing problems for most people with prolonged exposure.
Several other monitoring stations in the city reported AQI levels in the 'moderate' category on Sunday. The 'moderate' AQI range, ranging from 101-200, can cause breathing problems for individuals with lung, asthma or heart conditions.
