Mumbai recorded 1,066 fresh coronavirus cases on Sunday, which took the total caseload of the city to 1,23,397. The total number of fatalities have reached 6,796 in the city with 48 more patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours. As per the data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a total of 1,232 patients were discharged on Friday. The total number of recoveries have gone up to 96,586 and there are currently 19,718 active patients across the city.
On Sunday, Dharavi recorded only five new COVID-19 cases. The slum-clustered area has been reporting only single digit cases for a while. Dharavi's total coronavirus tally has reached 2,617 till now. As per the civic body, there are currently just 88 active cases while 2,271 patients have been cured and been discharged so far. The BMC has stopped disclosing the numbers of deaths in the area.
The nearby areas of Dadar and Mahim continue to report daily positive cases in double-digit. Dadar reported 31 new coronavirus cases on Sunday taking the total caseload to 2,020. The area currently has 458 active cases and a total of 1,478 patients have been discharged till now. Meanwhile, Mahim registered 17 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1,855. The area has reported 1,509 recoveries in total and there are about 272 active cases as of now.
The adjoining areas that come under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) are still witnessing a daily surge in the number of positive cases. Kalyan-Dombivali reported 297 more COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total to 22,452. The cities have registered nine new deaths taking the fatality count to 440. Around 305 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recoveries to 17,345. Currently, there are 4,667 active cases in the region.
