Even though Mumbai has lesser number of active COVID-19 cases, the coronavirus patients in Thane district are getting recovered at a faster rate. In Mumbai, the recovery rate is approximately 78 per cent while the same is 79.88 per cent in Thane district.
There are six municipal corporations under Thane district including Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC), Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation.
Moreover, two Municipal Councils of Ambernath and Kulgaon-Badlapur also comes under the Thane district.
According to the data issued by Maharashtra Public Health Department, a total of 1,293 cases were reported from the Thane district on Sunday, taking the number of coronavirus cases to 1,04,935.
Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 deaths reported in the district has reached 3,008 while active cases remain at 20,831. The total number of fatalities reported from Thane district on Sunday was 47.
The highest number of cases - 348 - were reported from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation followed by 319 COVID-19 cases from KDMC, 117 from MBMC while 24 each from Ulhasnagar and Bhiwandi.
In Kalyan, the coronavirus death rate has come down to 1.96 per cent. The number of patients in Mumbra area has also decreased. On Friday, no new COVID-19 case was reported from Mumbra.
Meanwhile, the doubling rate of coronavirus patients in Mumbai is 89 days now which means that number of cases will double nearly after 90 days.
On Sunday, Mumbai reported 1,066 fresh COVID-19 cases while the number in Maharashtra reached 5,15,332 after 12,242 coronavirus cases were reported in the state. The total number of cases in Mumbai have reached 1,23,382 and of these, 96,586 patients have been recovered.
