The state's Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, the senior leader of the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar appears to be on the way to another political partition. According to the Hindustan Times, Bhujbal is considering many options, including establishing his own party, yet he seems to have the most possible way to join the Shiv Sena (UBT). Bhujbal had left Shiv Sena three decades ago
The report, citing close associates of influential OBC leader Bhujbal, indicated that he was unhappy with being denied a Lok Sabha seat from Nashik. Sunetra Pawar, wife of Ajit Pawar, was elected to the Rajya Sabha seat despite losing the Lok Sabha election recently. This dissatisfaction was reflected in the meeting held on Monday of Samata Parishad, a social organisation headed by him. In this gathering, most of the 50 office bearers expressed displeasure that Bhujbal was being treated as an outcast by the party and called for a decision on the next course of action.
An NCP (AP) leader close to Bhujbal told Hindustan Times that they are exploring various possibilities, with another meeting soon to be held with Samata Party workers to discuss options. Although the final decision has not been taken, it is almost certain that Bhujbal will leave the NCP-Ajit Pawar group.
Another party insider further revealed that Bhujbal's stance on the OBC quota and the recent election results have led him to believe that his chances in the party are slim. During the recent elections, Bhujbals tenderly supported the Maharashtra Development Alliance (MVA) candidate Rajabhau Waje and openly praised Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray and expressed voter sympathy for them.
