BJP MP demands Bandra Terminus to be named after Bal Thackeray

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Poonam Mahajan on Friday demanded to rename Bandra Terminus in the name of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Regarding this, Mahajan met Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and wrote a letter demanding the name to be changed as “Hinduhridye Samrat Shiv Sena Pramukh Mananiye Balasaheb Thackrey Terminus”.

Mahajan proposed this, earlier in 2017, to the railway minister and sent the proposal to state government. Maharashtra government has agreed to this and has sent the proposal to Railway Ministry. Mahajan also wrote that Bandra Terminus falls under her constituency and thus, she wants the name of the station to be changed.

While talking to the Union Minister, Mahajan demanded solutions to the problems which people face while travelling in western and central railway line and asked for the construction of multiple, Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) in multiple stations including one in Kurla Railway station’s east side and one from Vidya Vihar to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.

After listening to the demands, the Union Minister promised to take a decision on the same as soon as possible.

The Railway Minister has assured to fulfil the demands made including that of the name change,” BJP MP Poonam Mahajan.
