Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday, February 19, declared that the state will achieve its ambitious goal of being a 1 trillion-dollar economy by 2028-29.

He also said a Mumbai makeover is key to the development and growth of India. He further added that the massive infrastructure projects will transform the face of Mumbai, making it more livable and affordable, turning it into a city of dreams.

Fadnavis made these statements during the launch of Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse, the world’s largest application of Metamerse in urban governance, at BKC in Mumbai.

In an interactive session held after he unveiled the country’s financial capital’s plans and projects. He said even now Mumbai was the startup capital of the country followed by Pune in the tech sector.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to complete a 375-km metro project to ensure east and west connectivity in the MMR, Fadnavis noted that the underground tunnels will serve a twin purpose of operating metro rails and cars/ buses.

He stressed on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTNL), named as Atal Setu, as a game changer which has made third city three times larger than Mumbai a reality along with Navi Mumbai and international airport. Fadnavis said the completed first phase of the Coastal Road will be inaugurated soon.

Moreover, the ongoing projects will not only help decongest Mumbai but ensure fastest connectivity.

The metro network, when operational, will allow up to nine million passengers to commute in almost the same time as the present local train network.

He said the objective was to ensure individuals reach from one point to another in under 59 minutes.
