After meeting Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Eknath Khadse on Tuesday met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

There have been speculations going on that he might leave the BJP. However, post this meeting Khadse asserted that he was not upset with his party and had not taken any decision to quit. This has triggered speculations on Khadse’s next move.

These remarks come days after the senior BJP leader said that he may look for “other option” if the “humiliation” continues. Khadse has a stronghold on the OBC community and has worked in BJP for over four decades.

Khadse met Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday at Vidhan Bhavan and held talks for nearly 40 minutes. Earlier on Monday, ‘sidelined’ Khadse had met NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Delhi.

Khadse had gone to Delhi to meet the BJP office-bearers in-charge of Maharashtra. However, the senior leader failed to meet the concerned BJP office-bearers as they were “busy”.

While talking to the reporters, Eknath Khadse informed that he met Sharad Pawar to discuss the two pending irrigation project in his home district of Jalgaon in Maharashtra.

Khadse asserted that he met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the same.

I wanted Sharad Pawar’s help to get funds for the irrigation projects worth ₹6,500 crores. I met Uddhav Thackeray to follow up on the issue,” claimed Eknath Khadse.

Khadse further informed that he has requested CM Thackeray to speed up the construction of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde memorial in Aurangabad and make an announcement regarding the same on December 12.

The senior BJP leader will take part in the ‘Swabhiman’ rally organised by his colleague Pankaja Munde in honour of late Gopinath Munde.
