Central Railway commuters can now track live location of local trains

Central Railways (CR) commuters can now get information on the live location of CR local trains on the Yatri mobile application. A demonstration of this feature of the Yatri app was held in presence of Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway at CSMT station on Wednesday, July 13.

Shalabh Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Ity Pandey, Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services), CR and other officials were present on the occasion.

The General Manager while interacting with Media said that the Yatri app is a useful tool for daily suburban passengers to get information about train running and for better planning of their journey. They can also get information about cancellation of trains or running of special trains especially during times of disruption of train services due to any other reasons or on account of mega blocks etc.

Live location tracking is an important feature of the Yatri- a mobile application that will help commuters better planning of their journey and easier commute. GPS devices installed on all the suburban rakes and algorithms developed to get the real-time location of local trains will enable users to view live train locations on maps and see the train symbol moving. The data gets auto-refreshed every 15 seconds and users can also click on the refresh button to get the updated live location of the train. The user will also get timely alerts regarding the arrival of trains etc. This facility is available for passengers of the Mainline, Harbour line, Transharbour line and Belapur/Nerul-Kharkopar line trains.
