In the memory of former late President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Central Railway (CR) has started the 'Library on Wheels' service from October 16, 2018. The state Education Minister Vinod Tawde had proposed to start 'Library on Wheels' in Deccan Queen Express and Panchavati Express. Employees from the state government’s Marathi language department will provide books for passengers with the help of a trolley.

According to the railways and the state government, books will be changed in every 2-3 months in both these trains. Apart from this, passengers would be able to return books post reading.

While inaugurating the service, Tawde said that the Indian Railways has taken the initiative by providing books in Deccan Queen Express (Pune-Mumbai-Pune) that departs around 5:10 pm from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) and Panchavati Express (Manmad-Mumbai-Manmad), that leaves from CST at 6.15 pm.
