On average, every two days a woman is giving birth in railway trains across the country. In the last financial year 2022-23, 158 deliveries have taken place in railway trains, for which women employees of Railway Security Force have helped. At the same time, the number of deliveries in the railway premises is 220.


Railways has announced the performance report of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) during the last year. RPF has the prime responsibility of protecting railways, railway property and passengers. Railways are paying special attention to the safety of women passengers. For this, CCTVs have been installed in 864 railway stations and 6 thousand 646 coaches. The number of pregnant women traveling by train is also high. 


RPF saved the lives of 873 male and 543 female passengers last year. RPF has given this lifeline to passengers in platforms, railways and trains. RPF collected the items worth INR 50 crores which were forgotten by the passengers. They were later deposited and returned to the passengers. Last year, 4 thousand 280 people were arrested for black market tickets. 


INR 81 cr worth of drugs seized in a year

RPF has launched a campaign against drug trafficking. The Railway Security Force has empowered Assistant officials and above to investigate, seize and arrest narcotics smugglers under the Narcotics Control Act. In the last year, 1 thousand 22 people have been arrested and drugs worth INR 81 crore have been seized from them. Along with this, 68 people have been arrested for smuggling wildlife and animal organs.
