In order to avoid inconvenience faced by the commuters after several bridges were closed for public use, Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) initiated free bus service in the King's Circle area. This happened after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered BEST to start free bus services for five kilometres in traffic-affected areas due to the bridge shutdown.

BEST officials informed that the free bus services had been initiated from MTNL building to Gandhi Market near King's circle railway station. Recently, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shut the foot overbridges (FOBs) in the area.

The authorities informed that the free bus service was started around 4:00 in the evening on Thursday as people were facing problems due to the closure of two FOBs in the ‘crowded area’.
